Japanese laboratory teaches robot to sword fight

The Namiki Laboratory in Japan, well known for its robotic arms and high-speed vision systems, have combined the two into a sword fighting machine that reacts faster than a human being can. If Terminator has taught you to fear robots becoming self-aware and killing the entire human race, this won't help.

With two high-speed cameras connected to a robotic arm, it can recognise the position of a human opponent and the movements of its own sword. Using custom algorithms, it can calculate the opponent's trajectory and form a defensive motion to protect itself.

And you thought a robot needed a gun to take you down.
