Artist puts poop emoji on a selfie stick to show we are mortal and self obsessed

Selfie sticks are here to stay, no matter how much we hate them. It's a sad truth we have to face, but artist Pablo Garcia has found a way to "reduce vainglory and self-importance" by sticking emojis to the end of them. Now your selfies can be accompanied with a smiley piece of poop, a perfect commentary to self-obsession.

The work behind this is more difficult than it seems. Using a technique called anamorphosis, Garcia has had to distort the emoji image so that it's fully visible from only one angle, meaning that piece of poop appears correctly when shot. This means the emoji itself actually stretches out across the selfie stick, despite looking all in one place on the picture above.

Of course, the only option is not poop (literally), as he's also created a thumbs up, party hat, kissy face, amongst a variety of others.

So why has he done this? Is there a bigger reason? "Perhaps it's a sober reminder of your mortality in the midst of your vainglory, or simply a pile of poop with eyes," Garcia comments.

Simply put in the words of Slipknot, People = Shit.
