Thorpe Park Unveils VR Ghost Train From The Mind Of Derren Brown

Thorpe Park just unveiled its plans to launch a VR ghost train, designed by mentalist Derren Brown. Promising "grand-scale illusions," the creators are using HTC Vive headsets mixed with live-action, to provide an experience that is not for the faint-hearted.

Competing with Galactica at Alton Towers, the 13-minute ride revolves around a 20-metre long Victorian train carriage, suspended in mid-air using iron chains. After crossing an iron bridge into the carriage, what happens after that is a mystery of 12 possible journeys and two different endings.

“I am proud and excited to have been working with the creative and operational teams at THORPE PARK Resort and Merlin Magic Making to completely reinvent the concept of a Ghost Train for the 21st Century," Derren Brown commented.

“Visitors can look forward to experiencing a heady and heart-stopping combination of next generation technology, grand illusion, special effects and live action that will completely rewrite the rules of what a theme park attraction can deliver. "

So far we've only seen a couple of promotional videos, with some of the green screen performance. Of course, it is all shrouded in secrecy, making us even more excited to try it out. Check them both out below.
