Play Pokemon On A Virtual Game Boy Built In Minecraft
We’re used to seeing huge, elaborate maps and devices in Minecraft; but this one is sure to grab your attention… Requag has successfully built a Minecraft machine that plays Pokémon Fire Red for the Game Boy Advance.
Yes, you did read that right – one player has rebuilt an entire Game Boy Advance in the game, on which you can go all Inception and play a game within it.
It’s pretty basic at the moment, missing key elements like dialog and combat, as well as the Pokémon themselves, but this is still a brilliant demonstration of just what is capable within this insane game.
Built over three weeks using Spritecraft, Requag has created this whole concept using layers of structure blocks that represent the moving tiles in the game as you move your character. It even contains a level editor with options to replace map textures!
This developer is quick to emphasise that his work will “always be in progress,” as this is simply a great test of just what Minecraft can do. Open to anyone, so long as you’re using at least version 1.10, you’re good to go.
Requag's amazing creation joins a whole host of incredible maps built within Minecraft, from the map of GTA V to the whole of Great Britain.
