Grand Prix Story review

Don’t let the 16-bit caricatures and colourful aesthetics deceive you, the latest title from developer Kairosoft (of Game Dev Story and Hot Springs Story fame) hides a tantalising amount of depth. For anyone who’s played any of the studio’s existing output, the premise will be instantly familiar. Taking Game Dev Story as the immediate comparison, GP Story swaps coders for mechanics, console iterations for chassis designs and game launches for race weekends. But with numerous parts and upgrades to be researched, developed and individually levelled up; as well as team members to be trained along the way, the latest Story is the most ambitious, yet equally as rewarding, project under Kairosoft’s belt.
