Times get tough as Sonic stars in car insurance ad

We understood that Sonic isn't the same video gaming icon he used to be in the past; but we didn't know it was to the point where he was to be the TV brand advocate for car insurance.

Progressive Auto Insurance released their ad campaign, starring the blue hedgehog, throughout this week on Fox.  Out of all the products that make sense to link with Sonic, car insurance doesn't really seem to feel like one of those.  Surprisingly, this isn't actually the first time, as he's done a fair bit of pitching in Japan; but this represents the first (and probably not the last) foray into western territory.
