Capcom To Open "World's First" Human Butchery In London
To 'celebrate' the release of Resident Evil 6, Capcom is all set to open the “world's first” human butchery in London's famous Smithfield's meat market, opening this Friday for two days.
Offering such appetising delights as 'Peppered Human & Lemon Sausages' and 'J'avo Caught Human Thigh Steaks' - as well as plenty more human hands, feet and head in case you were feeling peckish – the marketing campaign will be fronted by fictional butcher Wesker & Son. If specially-prepared human limbs don't yet get your stomach churning though, then just take a look with what's behind the bar to quench your thirst. First up is cocktail 'Stool Sample' (served in a specimen bag, really), which is joined by 'Puss'. Tasty.
If you hadn't already deduced, the meat products being served aren't actually human – Capcom would be in a whole lot of trouble come the weekend if they were - no, they are in fact stomach-churning food art designed and created specially to build buzz for the game. Capcom's UK PR manager Adam Merrett says, “We at Capcom are thrilled to be bringing Wesker & Son’s to Smithfields. If the C-Virus was to become a reality, there would be No Hope Left in the world, and so we want to create the scare and tension that fans and new players will experience in Resident Evil 6 into the real world.”
Capcom will also be hosting two days of lectures focussed on the themes of the game and how they relate to the real world. First up on Friday at St. Bartholomew's Pathology Museum & Galleries is a talk by a 'food futurologist' who will discuss the possible diets of the future (including how cannibalism may one day come to be our breakfast, lunch and dinner), while Saturday sees virologist John Oxford cast an eye over the storyline of Resi 6 and take a look at the C-Virus to discuss whether the existence and concurrent outbreak of such a savage virus is plausible in modern society. It's fair to say this weekend is an upbeat one for Capcom...
Resident Evil 6 will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 Tuesday 2nd October 2012.
