HMV Employee Live-Tweets Sacking From Official Company Twitter Account
The triple-dip recession has hit HMV significantly, and as workers faced the sack, the retailer's official Twitter account was hijacked by an angry employee. These tweets provided a brutally honest insight into the recent layoffs, and were quickly deleted soon after posting.
Mass execution of loyal workers who love the brand.
This particularly disgruntled worker live tweeted their own sacking, which was done alongside a large group of other employees. "There are over 60 of us being fired at once!" One of the tweets said.
"Under usual circumstances," another tweet explained, "we'd never dare do such a thing as this." But these are not normal circumstances, so "what have we to lose?"
Of course, all of these posts were quickly deleted, but not before this grand finale: "Just overheard our Marketing Director (he's staying, folks) ask 'How do I shut down Twitter?'"
Cluelessness from people with no experience in social media. Classic.
