It's Pronounced "JIF" Not "GIF." Inventor Reminds Us How It's Pronounced

In 1987, Steve Wilhite created the GIF (or Graphics Interchange Format).  Sixteen years later, he accepted a lifetime achievement award at The Webby Awards, using a GIF for his acceptance speech to confirm, once and for all, that it's pronounced "JIF."

More than 10 years after his retirement, it's clear to see the significant impact this creation has had upon the world.  Wilhite created the GIF while working at CompuServe, with the first image he ever created being that of a paper airplane.  Moving from a simple animation to a fluid piece of online media, defining popular culture, he remains proud of his creation.
