#NRMPresents 'He Took His Skin Off For Me.' A Twisted, Bloody Love Story

'He Took His Skin Off For Me' is a love story about a man who takes his skin off for his girlfriend.  Really nothing more we can say except for that.

This amazingly twisted short story, written by award-winning writer Maria Hummer, makes for quite the shocking setup.  As the boyfriend hangs his loose skin in the wardrobe, general living without this extra layer begins to show problems.  

Blood stains everywhere, an added requirement for heating, losing clients at work.  All of this culminates in old friends coming over for dinner, and the skinless man being quiet, withdrawn, and resentful for what he has become.  It's the perfect metaphor for a toxic relationship - when deserving someone's love requires a big change/sacrifice.

"Is this what you want? he asked, and I said yes, so he took his skin off for me."

"Reading this story for the first time I knew that it deserved to be seen, not just read."  Creator Ben Ashton writes on the Kickstarter page. "The imagery leaps off the page and grabs you by the back of the neck."

So how will the special effects be done? They do have a skinless person to recreate.  Look no further than the man who made Falcor for Never Ending Story, Colin Arthur.  Sculpting each individual muscle out of clay and silicone, Ashton's belief in physical special effects over CGI is truly expressed through what looks like some truly amazing make-up.

And, unlike many of these #NRMPresents projects, there isn't the risk of this not being fully funded, because it reached the £7,000 target early this morning.  We look forward to seeing the finished thing!
