Got Battlefield 3? Got a 4GB Xbox 360 slim? Prepare for old-school textures...maybe
Our review of Battlefield 3 will be going up tonight; but we've found something of particular interest that (if it's not just an isolated incident to us, and we hope for you guys it is) seems to be a real slap in the face to those who got the 4GB version of the new Xbox 360.
Grainger Games crash the party they sponsored
So last night was the Game Media Awards 2011, the conglomeration of video games journalists to celebrate the job that they do. That was until game shop chain (shops mostly in the North of England) Grainger Games got involved.
Watch the Grand Theft Auto V trailer right here
After the massive announcement by Rockstar on Tuesday, it's fair to say that rumours have been rife as to what will occur in the trailer next week. This has caused so much of a stir that the stars of Rock have even decided to create a countdown; but this is no ordinary countdown, as you can see below.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception review
Uncharted 3 isn't one to reinvent the wheel, and for that it feels as if it somewhat lacks the sheer determination of the predecessor's incessant urge to completely immerse you around every single corner. However, this doesn't discount that Naughty Dog continue to prove that they arethe masters of their craft.
Grand Theft Auto V. It's Official.
Rockstar Games have splash-screened their website, officially confirming Grand Theft Auto V, with a trailer to come on November 2nd.
Two rumours have been rife surrounding GTA V:
Skyrim Live Action Trailer makes Monday night awesome
Says it all in the title really. We're never content with three awesome ads. Forza Motorsport 4 with Jeremy Clarkson on vocals? Sony's dedication to gamers? ASUS taking a little too much influence from Michael Bay? Please, don't waste my time when I could be watching a village under seige by a dragon.
Editorial: Shut up Michael Pachter. Nobody cares and you're wrong anyway.
For those uninitiated, Michael Pachter is a high profile gaming research analyst who provides opinions and predictions as to how the video game market will metaphorically swell and fade.
I have nothing against the man himself, I think his Twitter argument with Jamie Kennedy was hilarious. There is, however, one issue. Built upon the foundations of a business M.B.A and years of credibility gaining with Forbes, what you find is someone who has managed to make a worthwhile living through either stating the obvious or being wrong.
Forza Motorsport 4 review
Gran Turismo 5's 2.0 patch (a hefty 1GB update) is finely-tuned to bring added life to a misfiring racer, but it's Forza Motorsport 4 that leaves us with the sense that we've just experienced the 'real driving simulator'.
Whether it's in admiring the piercing headlights and curvaceous body of the Italia 458 in Autovista (strangely mesmerising), choosing to go mano-a-mano in Rivals, re-instating pride for your loyal Club in multiplayer or getting behind the wheel, Kinect in-tow, for some nerve-shattering, bumper-to-bumper, old-fashioned racing; Forza 4 is, quite simply, the full racing package.
Game of the Week: Batman: Arkham City
Videogames’ self-proclaimed “silly season” is finally here. The drought of game releases over the summer period has come to an end; nights are drawing in, the temperature is moving closer to zero, and the release calendar is stuffed to capacity. But where best to place your hard-earned cash? Distancing ourselves from hyperbolic hype speak and unreachable expectations, what should you really be investing your time into? Over the coming weeks, allow New Rising Media to round-up the week’s freshest, most tantalising new releases.
The Gadget Show shoots back at FPS players with simulator
Everybody's looking for more realism nowadays in their video games, and this is done primarily through simulators. Since we've grown tired of racing simulators, The Gadget Show are looking beyond the traditional bunch of branded peripherals and teabaggings of the FPS genre to bring you the simulator you've been waiting for.
Editorial: The importance of video game visuals
True photo-realistic visuals within gaming are, to many, the Holy Grail of the medium.
It’s why game developers strive to produce the most stunning ultra hi-res textures, multi-
million polygonal models and sophisticated lighting models on a daily basis, satiating our
appetite for such sparkling HD fare.
PS Vita UK pricing and release date announced
So after finding out the impressive specs of the PS Vita, the bad news had to be somewhere. Sony have announced the UK pricing (it's more than a PS3) and a release date (next year).
Editorial: Kinect Comes To Halo: Anniversary: Has Motion Control Gone Too Far?
Today 343 Industries made it known, to my chagrin, that Halo: Anniversary would be receiving Kinect support. I’ll admit it; I was a huge advocate of Kinect. I was entranced by Spielberg’s childlike enthusiasm that it would “change the paradigm of storytelling and social interaction”, overly susceptible to Milo and Kate’s charms, vulnerable to Lionhead’s Peter Molyneux projections that motion control will bring us ever closer to a truly immersive 'experience'.
Batman: Arkham City review
Think Bioshock 2; but in Gotham city and you're part way there of defusing just what Rocksteady has done.
Grand Theft Auto 3 10th Anniversary edition announced.
The tenth anniversary of the first in a long string of heavily law-suited games will pre-empt the release of GTA's 3D debut on "select new generation iOS and Android devices" (translation: dual-core android phones, iPad 2, iPhone 4S only) this autumn.

Editorial: No Gabe. The world is not under threat from curation. We were never open to begin with.
"Innovation is threatened." "People's access is controlled." "The world seems to be moving away from open platforms." Strong words from Valve Boss, Gabe Newell at Seattle TechNW conference.
These were directed at Apple's choice of app curation over open-source values. The argument here is that as we lose our open-ness in the face of the App Store phenomenon the opportunity of innovation and our sense of choice goes with it. However, everything everywhere is curated so really, is this a bad thing?
