Game Of Thrones RPG Set For European Release
Focus Home Interactive today confirmed that it has signed a deal with Cyanide Studios for exclusive European publishing rights to the ambitious Game of Thrones RPG for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Based on the immensely popular series of fantasy novels by George R.R. Martin, recently surging into the public consciousness with HBO's Emmy Award-winning show. As production ramps up on the TV series' second season (due to debut in April of next year), Cyanide Studios – best known for its work on the Pro Cycling Manager series – is busy at work on the RPG in which players take the role of Mors, “sworn brother of the Night's Watch”, and Alester, “a Red Priest in search of redemption who is back to Westeros after a long exile.”
In what sounds like a cut-and-paste job of every fantasy RPG staple going, Game Of Thrones will allow players to choose character class, 'find' a fighting style, gain experience and prepare for “epic battles”, quoting Focus Home Interactive's press statement released earlier today. George R.R. Martin is reportedly overseeing the script, so there's at least one thing it has going for it.
“Cyanide realised a truly admirable work on Game of Thrones. The game is faithful to the unique ambiance found in George R.R. Martin's novels,” says Focus Home Interactive CEO Cédric Lagarrigue. “The narration, the artistic direction, the pace of the game and its realisation make it one of the most exciting role-playing games to come in 2012.” Well, we can only hope...
