Monty Python Stars Re-unite For Sci-Fi Comedy
So this was the bright side of life that they were singing about. Some of the members of Monty Python are reportedly teaming up for a science-fiction spoof going by the title of Absolutely Anything.
The classics are back: John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Terry Jones (director); but a question mark floats around Idle, who has held out so far. However, anything can happen between now and summer, when production begins in UK.
“It’s not a Python film,” Jones told TheWrap. “It’s a different thing. It’s not really that we’re all getting back together.” Saying this will not stop people seeing through this as the 'old band getting back together' scenario it could well be.
Robin Williams is claimed to be in discussions also, looking to take his part in the production as a Frenchman and a dog (both characters separately of course). With all of these guys on board, Absolutely Anything has a budget of $15-20 million, which in the grand scheme of film budgets is scraping-the-barrel pocket change. But in the name of parody, the tacky nature of what they do with this would work to their favour indeed! Something a little like this: (infact, looking at it now, it could pick up where this left off rather nicely)
We can't wait to find out more.
