Planet Earth has a flag now
With shades of Richard Nixon's head opening his speeches with "my fellow Earthicans" on Futurama, the planet now has a new flag we can pledge allegiance to.
In a new project by soon-to-be graduate Oskar Pernefeldt from Beckmans College of Design, we see an interesting minimalist design of seven intertwining wings on a deep blue background. This is to show the natural beauty of Earth, through it's mostly ocean-covered surface and if you're wondering what it would look like, he's sorted you out with some shots in situ.
"The blue field represents water which is essential for life – also as the oceans cover most of our planet's surface,” Pernefeldt commented on his website. “The flower's outer rings form a circle which could be seen as a symbol of Earth as a planet and the blue surface could represent the Universe.”
