Michel Hazanavicius’ loving homage to 1920s-era cinema The Artist might well be attracting the attention of film purists round about now, as it welcomes numerous awards and garners nominations across the board, but that hasn’t stopped UK cinema-goers demanding refunds for the silent film after complaining about, hear us out, a distinct ‘lack of dialogue’. A silent movie with a lack of dialogue you say? Ludicrous!

Slipknot members establish film production company

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor and percussionist M. Shawn Crahan (a.k.a the Clown) are set to lift the veil on a new production company, Living Breathing Films, at the Sundance Film Festival next week.

This eclecticist outfit, ran by self-admitted movie buffs (Corey bought $10,000 worth of DVDs when Slipknot began to make money) seems to be aiming straight down the same vein as the band they originate from.  "Our movies are going to be psychological. They’re going to affect you. When The Exorcist came out people got up and left after 15 minutes and that turns us on," Crahan told Rolling Stone.  "If I haven’t got someone to leave in five minutes for at least one of my films then I’m not doing my job."

An Interview with Brad Hansen

You may know him more for two particular viral videos that go by the names of 'The Lion King Rises' and 'WALL-ETHEUS.'  With the rather novel idea of syncing the audio of all-new movie trailers to the scenes of those that fit in an almost oxymoronic way, Brad Hansen has recently received massive viral success.

Surpassing a million hits within seven days, we had to talk to him and find out more.  How does he create these mash-up trailers?  What else does he do besides these creations?  And just how does one connect a children's film with the audio of something less...youthful?

As Brad allows us insight into the conceptualising process, "First I find a new trailer that people are really interested in. Then I just think about what characters, themes, and visuals seem to match up well, that would make an interesting counterpoint. If I can also think of a clever title spoof, then I know I'm in good shape!"

An Interview With Atomic Productions

With their slick, stylish, creatively-inventive spoofs of two of last years most accomplished and masterfully-made films, Atomic Productions' parody trailers of Inception and The Social Network – respectively known as Inebriation and The Brocial Network – have together grossed just under 2 million views on YouTube.

Not bad considering their combined production takes up but a small portion of the group's already highly impressive filmography, they're made on a shoe-string budget and came out of a challenge by creative director Andrew Adam's college professor who urged the group to try “something funny with that sort of grave seriousness” that they knew so well.

The first trailer and poster for The Hobbit released

Music video celebrates iPhone Games with Real-life versions

Have you ever wondered what iPhone Games looked like in real life?  Neither did we; but Hey Geronimo have answered peoples' aforementioned wonderment with their music video titled 'Why don't we do something?'

We see the likes of Fruit Ninja, Plants vs Zombies, Cut The rope (cutest rendition), Flight Control and the classic Angry Birds.  Unsurprisingly, it went viral pretty rapidly, and reminds us everso of Le Internet Medley.  It seems that pop culture is changing...into birds killing pigs and death wishes against fruit.  Take a look below.

Playstation movie store viral ads take us into virtual reality

So Sony's recent viral campaign to promote the newly introduced video store on PS3 presents us with a virtual reality experience that we whole heartedly crave for.

Created by the recruited agencies Studio Output and the Marshmallow Laser Factory, Sony appointed them to build a series of viral films to promote the Playstation Video Store (via the tagline 'Great films fill rooms'), which resulted in the VR shots we got here, using 3D mapping, a steadicam and head-tracking via attached Playstation Move controllers.
