London To New York In An Hour, By 4,000Mph ‘Vactrain’

From the west to the east coast of the United States in no more than 45 minutes, London to New York in just an hour, Washington DC to Beijing in a little over two hours through travelling at speeds of up to 4000 miles per hour. It sounds entirely implausible, but according to company ET3 and its ‘vactrain’ concept, it’s within our reach and it could well be the future of long-distance transportation.

NASA Ready To Invest In 'Space Taxis' To The Tune Of $500m

What with Russia having now monopolised the flying of space crews to the $100 billion International Space Station, NASA is now looking to invest in at least two U.S. firms to design and build what they’re calling ‘space taxis’ to transport astronauts to and from the space station. Russia, it is reported, currently charges around $60 million per person for the privilege.

SETI begins looking for alien life again. Restarts Allen Telescope Array

 

The Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI), has re-launched Allen Telescope Array operations in California in order to continue their search for alien life forms.

Due to a lack of funding the project was stopped in April; but public donations and a huge investment from the U.S. Air Force has meant they can continue their research.  This comes at rather convenient timing, as NASA announced the discovery of 1,000 new potential life-supporting planets via its Kepler space telescope.
