Man Sues Google For Catching Him Peeing On Google Maps
A middle-aged man in France has sued Google because of a particular Street View image, showing him taking a leak in his front yard.
The caught-in-the-act-of-peeing individual thought he was in privacy, relieving himself in November 2010 behind a closed gate in his front yard. However, this didn't stop the watchful eye of the Google Street View Car from capturing him mid-stream. The fellow has demanded removal of the photo, along with €10,000.
“Everyone has the right to a degree of secrecy,” Jean-Noel Bouillard, lawyer to the anonymous urinator commented. “In this particular case, it’s more amusing than serious. But if he’d been caught kissing a woman other than his wife, he would have had the same issue.”
While his (and everybody's) face is blurred out in Google Street View, it hasn't stopped people in the village where he lives from recognising him. Should make for some interesting conversations! And when the verdict is given on the scheduled date of March 15, it will make for a new insight into the privacy issues that may surround the maps service.
