Spielberg Enlists Crystal Skull Writer For Indiana Jones 5
Feeling excited for the new Indiana Jones, announced on Tuesday by Disney? Well, get ready to have that feeling struck down. According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Koepp has been brought on to write the film's script - you may know him as the screenwriter on Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
To be fair, we can't blame everything from the lazily tacked on UFO story to Shia LeTarzan on Koepp. This story was originally formulated by George Lucas, with which he had to work on and flush out into a movie plot. Yes, he must bear a brunt of the blame for this cinematic excretion, but this time, Lucas doesn't appear to be involved at all.
Looking at the previous films David worked on, he does appear to have an impressive Resumè, with Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible and the recent Men in Black 3 to name three. But nothing can take away from the lack of trust in his skill, following his previous vicious attack on the Indiana Jones character.
Beyond this, Disney haven't revealed much about the film except for Harrison Ford returning to star, and Spielberg returning to direct. It's not clear what the plan is here with the series, but don't expect to be in the dark for long given how quick we heard more about Star Wars. The movie is set to release on July 19th, 2019.
